Who are you? What do you like to do?

For the first time in my life, I've had the luxury of time this year. Before now, I have been mostly very busy and scheduled for decades, but since retiring, I've had the time to think about what I really like to do. During this time, I've explored multiple employment, housing, and recreation websites to see what's out there and what might be my next job, home, and adventures. The search has clearly demonstrated to me who I am and what I want to do.

Helper

Out of the many roles available in life, the one that draws me the most is that of a helper. I clearly enjoy helping people. I like the direct service positions that involve problem solving and care. That brings me satisfaction and roots me in ways that I enjoy. With that in mind, I'll look for ways to play this role with those I love and as an educator once again.

Making and Creativity

I also enjoy creating. Planning events, creating spaces, and solving problems are creative activities that engage me and play upon my experience, skill, and interest.

Natural Beauty and optimal human-made spaces

I want to be in places that afford me time indoors and outdoors that are welcoming, bright, and beautiful. Tight, dark, and unwelcoming spaces deter me. The physical space I'm in definitely impacts the work I can do.

Betterment

I like to be part of efforts that lead to betterment for people's lives and environments.

Active

I don't like sit still jobs--I like active, move around, varied positions and activities.

As I craft my next pursuits in life, these are the elements I'll look to include. Onward.
