No doubt about it, gardening is a creative endeavor, and as with any creative endeavor, there are limitless avenues you can travel and countless decisions to make as you begin the year's gardening months.
What will I do this year?
Compost
I simply love the full circle of eating lots of veggies, then using those veggie clippings and leftovers to make good soil for next year's garden. This is a sustainable circle of life that is Earth- and body-friendly. We've been engaged in this circle for a long time with a messy, impromptu backyard compost heap. This year, I need to remake the compost collection area so that we have good access to the great soil we make. Currently, though there is lots of good soil, it is very difficult to access from its steep hilly location.
Seedlings
I've planted a large number of flower and veggie seedlings indoors, and a few outdoors. It's time to move peas, salad greens, carrots, and scallions outdoors, and there are some indoor seedlings that have to be moved to larger pots.
Transplants
There are a number of perennials that can be split and transferred around the yard, but I need a yard plan that will help us to make decisions about our relatively small plot of land.
Like many, I love the creativity involved in gardening. I also love the delicious foods you're able to grow that end up on your dinner table.
