The days ahead: new focus and goals

It has been a very busy late winter/early spring as I tackled a number of projecs, goals, and challenges. And now, in many ways, a new life chapter has begun. What will this chapter include.

Immediate Family Focus

Family continues to be a big focus of my life. While I wish I could be with all of my sons sooner than later, the reality is that we're waiting until late June for a family get together since that's realistic for us. In the meantime, we'll have to be satisfied with ZOOM and phone call connections. I hope we're not putting this off too long, but if we can withstand the wait, it will be worth it.  In the meantime, there is the chance to support each other's goals and focus in countless ways via encouragement and other kinds of virtual supports.

Greater Family Focus

Since many family members live closer to me than some of my sons, it's easier to get together with them. In the days ahead, there will be a fair number of family events that include good food, project work, and care for one another. There are some upcoming celebrations too.

Gardening

There's lots to do to update the backyard garden and compost heap. This work is well worth it when you think about all the potential healthy foods and beautiful flowers we're able to grow.

Reading

My book pile is getting dusty. There's one book in particular that I'd like to read before the weekend--it's a long story about a prominent man's life. I'm very curious about his life so I'll make time beginning this rainy afternoon to read the book.

Healthy adventures

We have some great healthy, outdoor local adventures planned including hikes and bike rides.

Chores and paperwork

There's always a fair share of chores and paperwork to complete.

Work and contribution

Generally, I desire and envision plans a good one to five years ahead of that reality. I know there will be a new work endeavor for me out there in the future, but for now the family tasks are the main focus and those tasks take a fair share of time and energy, so work and other contributions are on hold for the moment.

Life takes us all down different paths, and I believe it is important to stop and think about the places you are going and want to go regularly--this helps us to live the good lives possible. Onward.
