Breaking habits is challenging.
I've been promising myself that I wouldn't engage in a small, but bothersome habit, for some time now, but I keep slipping back into that crutch of sorts--why?
The habits we establish over long periods of time make deep roots in us, and they are difficult to change. Yet, if we persist, we can alter those behaviors.
Generally we don't quit a habit all at once, but instead make a gradual change by engaging in that activity less and less.
Sometimes we may resist taking a hard look at when and why that habit persists, and all the ways we can eliminate that from our lives.
The more we can help our children from a young age establish good habits, the less they will have to worry about changing their ways as they get older. But as the world changes, new information will always teach us how to live better which will result in the need to change some habits.
Today I'll dig into the details of this small, but bothersome habit, and figure out how I might be able to make better change. Onward.
