As I garden, I realize that gardening is an extraordinary teacher. Every child should start a small garden in the backyard or in a container, and then nurture that garden throughout the summer months. To care for plants makes a child attuned to the natural world in significant ways. Also, to have a small garden means a child will recognize their power for growing and enjoying beautiful flowers and delicious, nutritious foods. In addition, to add composting to the mix, will help children to understand the circle of life as they grow their plants, prepare delicious foods, compost the plant leftovers, and then use the soil from the compost for future gardens. Gardening is a great teacher for children of all ages. Every child can nurtuer A Little Garden that Could as I am doing.
