Life's Report Card

Is it right to grade your life?

Since we've grown up in a society that grades often, I believe it is natural to want to grade our life? Yet, I don't think this is necessarily a positive activity.

How can we assess life? Life has so many different possible paths, and at every juncture we make decisions about what we will do and not do. Our decisions are informed and inspired by multiple experiences, individuals, and cultures in general.

I suppose if I were to grade life, I could do it by categories.

Relationships

Are you satisfied with your relationships? Which relationships have been most fulfilling and which relationships have been most challenging? How might you improve this area of your life?

Home

Have you created a warm, welcoming home for yourself and for others? In what ways have you succeeded with this, and in what ways can you improve?

Life's work

Are you pleased with the contributions you've made to the world around you?

Finances

What about your relationship with money? Is it a just-right relationship or do you feel you could have faced financial issues in your life with a better perspective and action?

Creativity

What have you created? Does this please you and/or others?

Fun

Have you made time for healthy, positive recreation?

Health

Are you healthy? Can you do more or different to be healthier?

Happiness

Are you happy? Why or why not? What changes can you make to ensure greater happiness?

When we assess our lives, it has to come from who we truly are and what we believe in. Grading our lives cannot be a comparison with others as we're all on different paths. Life's report card depends on who you are and who you hope to be. Onward.
