The pandemic has challenged long-held family traditions. Will these traditions survive or will we lose these traditions? I suppose the answer is yes and no.
As one who loves so many family traditions, I hope that many of the celebrations we always enjoyed will continue, but I already know some will end, others will change, and there will be new traditions too.
I do believe that honoring and celebrating in traditional ways can support family strength. Yet I also know that traditions have to be updated regularly to reflect modern times and realities. Some old time traditions were somewhat exclusive leaving some people, lifestyles, and interests out. As I move ahead, I want to make sure that celebrations are inclusive and welcoming.
If you don't do your part and attend to traditions, traditions will disappear. With that in mind, I want to think about how I can support the traditions that are valuable to me, traditions that help to strengthen and support our family ties, connection, love, and support.
