Sometimes sickness creeps up on people. Small signs are dismissed and left untended. Then all of a sudden, it strikes you that something significant has changed--sickness has creeped into what was once a seemingly healthy situation.
How can sickness be such a surprise?
I guess that happens because we become accustom to our routines and patterns, and sometimes move along without good observation of the small changes that occur. Or we may notice, and simply think it's a fluke, and not give much attention to the aberration. Or, in the recent past, were we so consumed with the pandemic limitations and strife that we missed other issues that were arising in various areas of our lives.
Nevertheless, sometimes sickness arrives without our awareness, and once it is here we are struck all of a sudden about what to do to remedy the situation. Where do we turn? Who are the experts? What is the best course of action?
While there is no grave sickness in my midst that I know of, there were a number of small physical, social, and environmental maladies that were left untended in my midst, and now with the most grievous pandemic issues past, I'm beginning to notice the work that needs to be done. In a sense, sickness crept into some corners of life, and now it's time to make those situations healthy.
In the future though, I want to be a bit more observant and attuned to health in all corners of life so that sickness cannot so easily root itself. Onward.
