Who are you on social media?

Thirty years ago, social media was in its infancy. Now, social media is apart of almost everyone's life. Social media likely crept into your life rather than arrive by way of a plan of any sort, and because of this we all probably have a somewhat haphazard social media presence. As I think about this, I think that I want to be a bit more deliberate about how and why I use social media. Since I just purchased a new phone so I could access some terrific apps, this is a good time to reconsider my social media presence.

Facebook

As a friend commented yesterday, I do love the way that I can easily connect and interconnect with friends, family members, and colleagues across the globe easily on Facebook. The Facebook infrastructure is terrific for connections. Yet, we all know, that Facebook profits from all our share, and they also have incredible power when it comes to what messages they promote and don't promote. That's why I am a fan of continual oversight and review of how powerful social media channels like this work so that people's rights and good living are protected.

Twitter

For me, Twitter is a great idea-exchange thread. I have a great group of follows on Twitter, and I learn a lot from those follows everyday.

Instagram

Because I didn't have a very good camera, I have not embraced Instagram yet, but because I love images, photography, and art, I will soon get active on Instagram, and think of this as photography/art/creativity thread. I will also follow friends, family members, and others who inspire me particularly with regard to creativity and good living.

Medium

I've yet to get active on this thread, but am a member and I do read some of that which is published here.

Pinterest

I like the Pinterest infrastructure, but find it's too laborious to use. I will continue to consult Pinerest for ideas, and my get back involved in time.

The infrastructure here is easy to use so I continue to use it--sometimes to choose because of ease alone is not the best decision. I know this, so I'm thinking about this for the long run.

Who and where are you on social media? As you can see, I have more to think about in this realm. Onward.
