Every so often I take a few moments out to assess how I'm spending my time and supporting my loved ones. As the lives around me change, there's the need to recalibrate the routines. While I rely on a good routine, this chapter of life has a many spontaneous, unpredictable moments to navigate.
So how's everyone doing?
Young adults
My world is full of young adults including my children, their loved ones, and many young adult relatives. I love being around these vibrant, full-of-life individuals for family celebrations and dinners, but for the most part their living their energized, eventful lives. I remember being that age and doing the same. We've planned a few get togethers this summer and fall to bring everyone together for some good times.
Older relatives
There are many older relatives in my world too--people who have given to me in deep and meaningful ways throughout life. I want to be there for those relatives and help out in ways that I can. There's a learning curve here as their chapter of life is relatively new in our world because people's last chapter is much longer and care options much greater than in generations past.
Contemporaries
Contemporaries like me are busy and difficult to schedule due to their many connections with family, friends, work, contribution, and their own needs and interests. When we do find the time to get together, it is a welcome time to connect and share our interests.
In some ways, not unlike other stages in life, I'm pulled in many directions, but don't want that to sway me from the joy I experience when I share good times with those I love. Onward.
