For us highly sensitive people, digs don't sit that well.
For example, when sharing a worry with a friend, the friend retorted with a cruel dig. That hurt. Just think if the friend had responded with some empathy, compassion, or understanding with regard to the situation--that would have been a lot better.
Digs are cruel comments that hit at a person's weak or sensitive spots. While sometimes spoken in jest, digs still hurt.
In general, it is better to lift each other up than tear one another down. Onward.
