The annual family reunion has become a milestone event for our growing-up family. Each year we carefully plan the event, look forward to it, engage in the reunion's many activities, assess the success, and then begin planning again. We want to continue this tradition because it is one way to keep our ever changing extended family close. Milestone events like this give the year structure and help to create culture for our intimate and extended families. These milestones are memory making events.
Now, past this year's reunion, it's time to move on to the next milestone which is actually a set of friend and family events at beaches, parks, and lakes. Then there's the return to school, a family wedding, the winter holidays, sports events, graduations, and next year's family reunion. The goal of all of these events are to come together, enjoy each other's company, celebrate, and support one another. These events provide a positive rythm to the year.
