Peonies are so beautiful--they bring the joy.
Spending my professional career as an educator was meaningful, but not conflict-free. There was a lot of problem solving involved in that career--serious, important problem solving. On the other hand, gardening is a mostly conflict-free pasttime, and that's one reason why I love it. I can peacefully plant, weed, and experiment in my garden without any great conflict or worry--it's a peaceful place. We all need relatively conflict-free spaces in our lives--places that bring us peace and joy without the worry or contention that conflict brings.
Of course, conflict in many ways wakes us up, makes us alert, and helps us to grow. A life without any conflict might be a stangnant life, but a life with too much daily conflict is a worrisome life. Each of us has to find the right balance between conflict and conflict-free living.
Joyful living depends on finding conflict-free, beauty-making, loving, peaceful places. Having some of those spaces in your life truly makes life a lot more joyful. Onward.
