Take me as I am

I believe that we have to be sensitive to those around us, but I also believe we have to be who we are. As I write this, I am reminded of a friend who lives life on her terms. For a long time, she appeared to try to fit the mold expected of her, but once she broke that mold and began living life on her terms, her smile broadened and energy increased. To see this exhuberant person living a life that's true to her is exhilirating and inspiring.

While it is critical to be empathetic and sensitive to others, it is also critical to be who you are. Of course there's a balance here, and too much weight on one side or another upsets that balance. Onward.
