Sometimes people get stuck and they don't realize that a few life changes can make a significant difference in their overall happiness. Often people like this don't realize that there are experts out there that can help you to create positive change in your life and the lives of your loved ones.
Long ago I watched a woman place too-high and too-tough goals on her child day after day. The child was a beautiful, bright young girl who had tremendous potential for a good life. Yet as her mom placed one too-high goal after another on her, the girl began to crumble, and eventually the girl became very troubled. Her life has never been the same since.
Instead the mom could have chosen to know her child deeply and work with her wonderful smarts and strengths. Instead of creating a pressure-cooker home of goals that were too tough and not a match for the child's personality or interests, the mom could have worked with the wonderful gifts the child embodied. The mom, in a sense, was projecting her own dreams and personality on her daughter rather than seeing her daughter for the unique person that she was.
Obviously, I didn't live in the home and most likely don't know every detail related to the issue. Also, as a parent, I know that none of us do the job with perfection. Parenting, like teaching, is a limitless job and all of us make mistakes as we attempt to do our best possible jobs.
Too often happiness evades us because we are not willing to take the time to think about how we are living our lives and what we need to create happiness in our lives. Also, perhaps due to pride or self-consciousness, we often don't find the coaching or expertise we need to solve our problems. We can easily get stuck in patterns that do us no good.
Happiness is within our grasp, and we have the option to seek that happiness and make the changes needed to allow that happiness to occur. Onward.
