When you are devoted to your loved ones, you are devoted to what they need. You want to be there for them and provide that which will help them. What is on that list of needs?
Privacy
Sometimes what our loved ones need most is the privacy to live their own life and make their own choices. To be a loving friend or family member sometimes means that you give those you love the space they need.
Recognition
Recognizing the good that your loved ones do is also a need. If you take your loved ones' good work and living for granted, they may become disgruntled and disconnected. There are countless ways to recognize another's good work. You may write a letter, take them out to dinner, give a small gift, or simply say thank you.
Time
Making good time for your loved ones is another way to provide what they need. This is not hurried, unfocused time, but instead time that includes good listening and keen observation. You may share a meal, adventure, walk and talk or more. If we care about people, we have to make time for them.
Gifts
We may decide that our loved ones need a gift of money or something else--gifts can uplift our loved ones' lives if those gifts represent something that they truly need and will benefit from.
Thought
Making time to think about who your loved ones are and what they need also leads to helping, caring for, and loving your loved ones in meaningful ways. Take time to think about each loved one and what you can do to love them well.
Our relationships matter when it comes to good living, and knowing what your loved ones need and want helps you to build positive relationships. Onward.
