There is a lot of dreadful news, and there is a temptation to turn away from these dreadful events and resist the problems that exist. The complexity of situations appear grave. What can we do?
Haiti
There is desperation in that country due to poverty, natural disaster, and political struggles. Haiti is not alone with this plight. There is a need to help peoples and nations who struggle. There are agencies in place to provide that help, and we must continue to find ways to support what is needed to uplift lives in places where people struggle greatly.
Afghanistan
Afghanistan is a country that has been mired in political strife for a long time. There are reports of human rights violations against women and girls. There is poverty and multiple other challenges in this country. The USA and other foreign nations have played a role in this country and have left a legacy that many debate about. What is our role related to this country? What are the best ways to help? For me, I hope that countries around the world can work to lift human rights there and everywhere around the world via peaceful, collaborative efforts.
Domestic Terrorism in the USA Led by Greedy, Backwards, Self-Serving Individuals
Currently, and sadly, we have many current and former leaders in the United States doing all they can to break our country apart. These hateful, bigoted, backwards, and self-serving mostly White male leaders appear to be working to prop up their personal power, privilege, profit, and pleasure while oppressing many with harmful propaganda, lies, exaggeration, cheating, criminal behavior, and terrorizing words and actions. To me, this is a big problem that has to stop sooner than later. In many ways, this problem is being supported by a relative few who have big money and little respect or commitment to humanity. We can't let this continue, and have to find peaceful ways to rid our country of this danger.
Protect the Planet
Clearly a grave danger we all face is the destruction of lands, oceans, and all natural resources that we need to live healthy, good lives. We have to work together as a world's people to protect our resources to make way for best possible living. This means we have to change the ways we live on our own and with others. We have to be more collaborative than competitive. There is so much to learn and do in this regard, and there are so many people standing in our way with regard to this good work.
Update Systems
Progress in many areas is slow because our systems often impede positive innovation and change. We also have backwards, me-first thinkers who also stand in the way of good progress. We have to update systems of communication, decision making, government, and more in order to move towards greater, more positive and productive collaboration to do the good work possible in the world.
Respect and Dignity for One Another
We all have to increase our ability to act with dignity and respect towards ourselves and others. Donald Trump ushered in an error of disrespect for humanity, hatred toward one another, and degrading competition and disregard. We have to work against such heinous, inhumane behavior, and instead work together to uplift dignity and respect which will help us to do better with all the problems we face.
Joy, Love, Creativity
There is great joy to be had in this life, and we can work together in creative and loving ways to make living a joyful experience for people. This is a good aim for our lives.
