A friend called me recently and warned me against repeating an action. I swallowed my pride and heeded my friend's advice because I knew that he was directing me in the right direction. Essentially my friend had my best interests in mind--he wanted me to make progress and do what is right and good. While I thought that my map was solid, he alerted me to errors in my direction--his alert was well founded, and since taking his advice, my journey has been better.
As I write about this I'm thinking of a friend who has steadfastly refused to get vaccinated. I know that there's a lot of pride involved in this decision because her crowd has been staunch Trump supporters for some time. She and her associates have been proud of their Trump support, so I believe that pride is getting in the way of accepting the science and distrusting the Trumpian propaganda machine to do what is right and good for their health.
We all get caught in the trap of misdirection and wrong choices now and then, and if we really believed in where we were going, what we were doing, or the people we supported, we have to swallow our pride now and then to move ahead and redirect our journey. It's worth swallowing your pride to live a better life. If you haven't been vaccinated yet, please get vaccinated. Onward.
