I've been analyzing the tough jobs in my life. These are jobs that find me procrastinating, arriving late, and dreading. Today I finally had a breakthrough with regard to a job like this. I knew that I wanted to do this tough job because it was the right thing to do. I realized that, in part, the job is tough because I get little positive feedback and it is a job with no directions, and every time the job is different and I'm often met with challenges I'm not exactly sure how to handle. Yet today, my breakthrough involved coupling the job with good work for others. While the focus of the job itself provides little positive feedback, by coupling the job with good work for others, I am guaranteed the good feedback which includes smiles, kind words, and gratitude from those I serve. While it's great to be selfless in service, there's no doubt that positive feedback definitely fuels your energy for such jobs. Onward.
