After deciding to give up on a nagging situation, I tried yet another approach and so far so good. The approach is so unnatural for me that I have to mentally coach myself every step of the way as I apply the construct. Yet, the new strategy has helped me to alleviate a lot of stress which means I have a lot more good energy to work on a few goals that I have.
In many ways, I am fascinated by the process of learning, energy management, making good choices, and living a good life. As I did when teaching, I'm always striving for that right combination of action, thoughts, and words to create good living. Some might say that this obstructs the spontaniety that life offers, yet this is who I am and what calls me.
How does the new construct work?
First, know your overarching values. What matters more than anything else? For me, what matters the most is living a good life for myself and for others. As for others, that means showing them respect for the good lives they desire to live and what they need to live those lives. For me, it means finding my people, creating my space, and doing the good work that uplifts my life, the lives of others, and the life of my community. I'm passionate about good living and the many ways that presents itself. Essentially, good living to me can be characterized with these elements:
- happy, healthy people
- beautiful, natural landscapes
- good-as-can-be health and education
- fair pay, just work conditions
- positive, healthy recreation
- simplicity - less things, more time
- positive development
