Life is a series of resets for me. I choose a goal and go full throttle in that direction, then I get exhausted, rest, reflect, and reset for the next leg of the challenge. I'm sure that many approach life that way; especially those of us who are dreamers. We see the potential out there and we want to make that potential a reality, that fuels our days, focuses our attention, and drives our direction.
So today, it's a reset day. I rested and reflected then made a short list that will carry me through the next month. Undoubtedly there will be some surprises along the way that both challenge and enrich my energy and direction. I guess that's partly what makes this life journey interesting.
So where am I headed. Let's just say I'm headed nowhere new right now--the journey has me focused on a few lifelong nagging goals that I've resisted for decades. These goals are not natural for me, but necessary in order to get to the next place. One goal has to do with my way of being--if I reach this goal, I'll bring to life a better ability to serve, and the other goal has to do with my own self preoccupation. It's a goal related to freeing myself from some bonds that have held me back for far too long. Once I achieve these goals, there will be other goals, and most likely goals related to service of some kind.
It is easy to forget and dismiss important goals in your life particularly if those goals are not natural or easy. In many ways our human nature is to choose the easy path rather than the challenging one, but we know from our past experience and the experiences of others that when we do challenge ourselves with good goals and objectives, we and those we care about are most often the better for it. Onward.
