A room filled with people you love and care about

After living within the confines of COVID-19 limitations for a long time now, I was caught unprepared when I was recently in a room filled with people I know and care about. i wanted to talk to all of them, but time and place didn't permit that luxury. I got a little stressed out in this situation. Coming out of the COVID-19 cocoon has its stressors.

Soon, I'll be in a similar situation again. I'll be surrounded by people I love after a long time of only seeing a few people at a time in very prescribed situations. How will I handle that situation--what will I do?

Take time to simply observe the joy

First, I simply want to look at my love ones and enjoy the fact that I am surrounded by them. My family and friend groups have always enjoyed being together and having fun. The pandemic limited that, and now that we're cautiously venturing back to gathering thanks to the vaccinations, I want to appreciate this communion.

Have fun

I don't want to perseverate on the challenges we've faced, the struggles we've encountered, or the strife we may have experienced. Instead, I want to simply relax, enjoy the music, eat the good food, and have fun.

Be safe

I will be cognizant of the fact that we have to be safe by spending time outdoors whenever possible, greeting people with more waves than hugs and kisses, and being sensitive to people's need for space and comfort as they venture from the COVID-19 limitations.

In the best of circumstances, I think most of us have become more sensitized and appreciative of the good things in life during the pandemic. I don't want to lose this respect and pleasure with respect to the good times in life. Onward.
