The past year has been a year of change in many ways.
Many family members who were quire rooted in jobs or school are making changes. This creates some mystery about the days ahead. Where will they live? What will they do? How will they like it? Time will tell.
There are also a few loved ones who are facing tough medical circumstances. That situation has me wondering about the best ways to help and support them. I've learned a lot about their conditions and the health care industry as well due to this.
For myself, the last year was my first year not teaching in 35 years--that was a big change. While I miss the colleagues, creativity, and children, I don't miss the complex bureaucracy, and I love having more time for my family and a few other pursuits such as gardening.
There has been a number of larger community changes too. It has been a trying year for schools and families with regard to the pandemic restrictions and it has been a challenging political year given that fact that Donald Trump and his cronies have been actively working against our democracy, personal freedom, and ability to work together as a nation. Thankfully Trump did not win the election and Joe Biden has surpassed my expectations with regard to good leadership. He has done a great job to date and this great job has been especially wonderful when you consider the horrible job Trump and his cronies did and the disrespectful, hateful, damaging, deadly way the Trumpsters left office and continue to plague our country today.
On the upside our response to COVID-19 was to get outdoors and engage in a large number of outdoor hikes and explorations with friends and family members--that was lots of fun. We focused in our healthy meal preparation, household tasks, good movies and shows, reading, research, and more. We made the best of things. Onward.
