I've been entertaining a number of part time jobs. I've thought a lot about what I'm looking for. What is my time worth? How much time do I want to relegate to someone else's charge? Who am I willing to work for? What conditions do I consider just, welcoming, positive?
I have arrived at the interview stage a couple of times only to realize the job isn't for me as I need to stay flexible right now; there are more important goals to achieve before taking on another organization and many duties.
Choosing a job at the post-career point is much different than choosing a job when you are young. When you are young, you are looking at building a good, positive career and making the kind of money that can afford you a home, family, and good times. Now, at this stage, I'm looking for a job where I can contribute, have some flexibility, belong to a positive community and work for a good cause. This new job has to fit with my goals related to health, family and finances too. Time will tell where I land.
