I've set a series of mini goals on my way to a personal fitness goal. In May, I climbed a small mountain near my home with family members, then in June I climbed a more difficult trail, and now in August, I climbed a larger mountain. Each feat was a win on my road to a greater health and fitness goal, and these hikes have been tangible, enjoyable evidence of my progress.
It is great to set mini goals as evaluation and celebration points along the way to any big goal. Starting with your final destination in sight, you simply work backwards to create an overall path to achievement, and then each time you hit a mini goal along the way, you can then stop to reconsider your next mini goal. For me, it will probably be a slightly higher mountain in a month or so when the fall foliage is in bloom--a good view always gets me excited and fuels my energy to hike a mountain.
With the sudden unexpected need to complete a number of household repairs, I'll likely make a path to complete that work with one mini goal after another.
Those big objectives and goals can seem giganctic, weighty, and bothersome, but as we all know, when we break them down into desireable mni goals, the journey is a lot easier. Onward.
