The big event

We have a big family event coming up. The event was scheduled for last year, but due to COVID-19, it was postponed a year. We didn't expect that COVID-19 would still be raging a year later, but thanks to the vaccines, we are going forward with the event with many safety protocols in place. Only the vaccinated are welcome at the actual event, children who are not vaccinated will wear masks, much of the event is taking place outdoors if the weather permits that, many are getting their flu shots prior to the event, and we'll likely give each other a little more space than usual.

There are many preparations in place to make this event positive. We've prepared special clothes, reserved lodging, prepared special treats, created or purchased presents, and spent lots of time anticipating the good times ahead.

With the event only a few weeks away, I've designated a corner of the den for the special event packing--whenever I think of something we should bring, I simply put that in the corner. That's a good way to make sure I don't forget anything that's important.

I've checked in with close family members who plan to come too. We hope to get some nice photos of our loved ones at the event.

And as I do with most special events, I've visualized the weekend to make sure my priorities are well directed. As with any special event, what is most important is having a chance to spend good time with the people I have loved throughout time--many good people who I have shared many good times with.

It's been a long pandemic chapter, and hopefully the good planning and preparation will lead to a celebratory weekend when we can take a break from the pandemic worries. Onward.
