What good will you do today?

I've started asking myself, What good will you today?, each morning. This question centers me on the day's efforts and helps me to consider whether the plan is rightly directed or not. Generally, my personal responses to this question are not big, life changing actions, but instead small, regular tasks that improve life for me and others--efforts in line with my greater values, vision for what I believe is the good life for me and others.

When we drill "good" back to the essentials, we arrive at categories such as healthy activity, good nutrition, warm welcoming homes, and helping others. The more I consider this question, the better I get at meeting its potential.

To do the good possible also means you're avoiding areas of life that hinder good--areas of life that obstruct what's positively possible for you and others. I still hold the vision that we can build communities that work in ways that support good living for all. There's much we can do to meet that vision. Onward.
