What impacts you?

It's very interesting to step back and truly evaluate what impacts you and what those impacts are like. So often in life, we roll along without giving most impacts a great deal of attention. I'm becoming more attuned to this, and that is having a positive effect on my overall lifestyle.

Once you recognize those impacts--you are better able to anticipate them and plan accordingly. For example, I've noticed that a particular weekly event has a negative impact on me making me disband some of my better actions in favor of actions that are not as positive or healthy. Why? For starters, the weekly event is rooted in outdated lifestyle elements--elements that we now know are not that healthy or positive. Next, the situation is somewhat new making me an awkward novice which is uncomfortable and further, there's not much of a team effort with this task so I'm on my own which can be difficult too. Just recognizing why this event brings about a negative effect, has helped me to plan better so that I can ward off the negativity and replace it with more positive actions and thoughts.

On the other hand, another weekly event spurs in me the most positive effects--when I engage in that activity, the entire day goes better. There's plenty of support for that activity, and it is an up to date, healthy, positive event. I need more of that in my life.

The more we evaluate the impact of the events in our lives, the better we can lead ourselves in positive ways. To be reflective and cognizant about this is a step in the right direction.
