Sometimes when we're stuck it may be because we're standing in our own way. Recently that happened to an acquaintance. What that person really wanted was within reach, but the person kept getting in the way of achieving what they wanted. The challenge was getting there--many offered to help, but the person would not accept the assistance to get from Point A to Point B in terms of desired outcome so rather than move along, the person was somewhat unhappily stuck at point A.
I'm thinking of when that happened to me. I wanted to get to point B in terms of my dreams and desires. Many offered assistance and ways to get there, but stubbornly I didn't listen or heed their wisdom. Instead for years, in this regard, I remained at Point A. Only recently, have I stepped backed and accepted the assistance to get to Point B--why didn't I do this before?
First, I didn't take the time to step back and really think about the situation. Years ago I should have done that. I simply should have put all the cards on the table with respect to this rather small aspect of my life and analyzed the situation with all the facts and support in mind. Simply taking the time to reflect carefully on where I was and where I wanted to be, then accepting the available help would have easily transported me to a more desired situation. Instead I fretted and worried, but did not take the time necessary to make a good plan and stick with it.
Also, I wanted to do it all by myself, when in truth, we often can't reach our goals by ourselves--we need to humbly take the help that's out there to get from Point A to Point B. With humility, we have to recognize that it's rare or impossible for a person to achieve their dreams completely by themselves. We need each other, and the more that we can put our pride aside, think deeply about who we are and where we want to be, and work towards those goals humbly in collaboration with others, the more likely it is that we'll reach our desired outcomes.
So, for goals great and small, take some time to think about whether you are standing in our own way or not, then get out of your way, think about the situation, and make a good plan that maxmizes the help and support that's available. Onward.
