As my family spreads out into many different places, I find that I am traveling more to see them and spend time with them. I want this travel to be as healthy as possible. What can I do to make this happen?
Research restaurants
Making the time to research restaurants ahead of time and make reservations at those eateries ensures that I'll have healthy eating options. When you're looking for a restaurant at the last minute and without reservations, you often end up at a place with less healthy, less tasty food. That lack of satisfaction has an unhealthy domino effect.
Make an agenda
Spontaneity is good, but often leads to unhealthy choices. Last time I took a big trip, I didn't plan well. We ended up making some unhealthy choices due to that lack of a loose-tight agenda. Having an agenda that ensures healthy eating and uplifting, positive, healthy activity ensures a good time. If the schedule is too tight however, that can lead to frustration. When traveling, there are always unexpected surprises and you have to leave space for those events.
Know your energy
When you plan in ways that doesn't account for your typical energy, you may find yourself too tired or too sendentary. Planning travel that matches your energy is important when it comes to healthy travel.
Include the arts
I find that including the arts in travel truly uplifts our trips. A visit to a museum, historic home, theater or music provides a memorable, inspiring shared event. I love doing the research about the arts available in the places where we travel and making the time to visit those places.
Physical fitness
Similar to the arts, researching ways to include physical fitness in your travel plans greatly enhances those plans. So many destinations today provide rental bikes, walking trails, fitness centers and sports facilities. Adding those places and events to your schedule is a great way to explore a new destination and feel good too.
Making the time to plan travel well helps you to have a healthy, enjoyable time. I recommend that.
