We never know what's around the corner. While life for most of us takes on a typical routine, now and then surprises await. At good times, I'm always a bit fearful of those unexpected, undesirable surprises that happen occassionally, but we can't let fears like that obstruct our good times.
When we have the chance to enjoy each other's company, we have to relish those moments as these are the good times that energize us both in the moment and in the future. When the pandemic hit with full force during the Spring of 2020--it was those good times past that gave us the energy and will to be make the best of the uncomfortable limitations we faced. We trusted that in time, we would be able to resume our good times together and at that time, we'd be creative and make the most of what we could do despite the limitations.
To make the most of our good times together, we often have to think anew. This new thinking is necessary because over time our needs, interests and family dynamics change. There will be times when the good times involve lots of children and then times when there are mostly adults--that difference changes what we plan and do when we get together. Our finances and interests will change too. Low cost camping may be the best options at some points whereas a luxurious hotel may be worth the price at another time. Whatever our circumstances, we can put the pieces together in ways that spell a good time.
One way that I like to think anew is to consult my friends and family members' lives, and think about the opportunities for fun that exists. For example, it's great to visit people in their own environments as that's a great opportunity to visit and know a new place. And, it is similarly enjoyable to find out about people's passions and partake in those passions in some way. For example you may attend a friend's art show, music performance, author talk or sports event--that broadens your world and supports their endeavor too. Sharing talents, interests and skills is another way to have a good time. A shared meal where everyone brings their best dish is an easy way to get together or perhaps a friend teaches you and others a skill they're an expert at.
There are countless ways to get together and enjoy one another's company, and it's times like these that help to make life meaningful. These are the times we have to create and relish as we live as well as we can. Onward.
