What is your vision for a good world, and how does that vision affect who you are and what you do?
I thought about this today as I observed a number of people make different choices with regard to one event. I wondered how indviduals' world views affected their responses, and I also wondered about my own world view too. Does my world vision limit opportunity or expand opportunity?
A good life for everyone
In my world vision, I seek a good life for everyone. I believe that's possible. A good life doesn't mean it will be a perfect life, but instead it means that you'll have a life where you obtain your basic needs, enjoy good relationships, live on a healthy planet and engage in positive opportunties and pasttimes.
No one-size-fits-all definitions for good living
I am a big fan of personal freedom, and as long as you are not harming or hurting others, I believe you should be able to live your own life.
Contribution
I do believe, however, that in order to raise up the collective good, we all have to find ways to contribute to society and help one another. We are interdependent as a people and if we want people to be able to live well, we have to contribute to the greater good in ways that we can.
Work for betterment
The world is always evolving. We are always learning new and different strategies for living well and we are always facing new and challenging problems too. I believe that as a people we can work for betterment to solve problems and make life better.
Compassion, collaboration, grace, empathy, care, compassion, love
I do believe that the greater our humanity, the better we will be able to live for ourselves and others. We have to raise up our levels of compassion, collaboration, grace, empathy, care, compassion and love to live well.
Simplicity
For the most part, I believe simple lives are better. Yet to be extravagant now and then can light up your sense and bring great joy and excitement to our lives. Celebrations are positive, but in general, the simple life brings about great satisfaction leaving you with less things and more time to engage in life's greatest joys.
What is your vision for the world and your own life? How does it differ from mine? How might our different visions show up during the time we spend together and what we do for each other? I'll be thinking about that.
