Cheering oneself on for the hard chores in life

Everyone faces some challenging tasks in life. Just a few weeks ago, I encountered an unexpected task like this. Stopping to say a short prayer helped me get through it. Today I have a few similar chores to endure. I can tell when I'm about to encounter tasks like these as my energy decreases and I literally drag my feet--it's not what I want to do, but it is what I believe I should do. Life always has a few undesirable, but necessary jobs.

So what's the best way to attack jobs like this.

Prayer and reflection

Taking some time to pray and reflect on the necessity and struggle of chores like these helps a lot--that centers you and reminds you why you have chosen to engage in these taks.

Seek the meaning

Typically if you are choosing a tough task, there's a good reason for it and value to be gained from engaging in that task. Seek the meaning, learning, growth that result when you complete tasks like these.

Do a good job

Invest in the task with your best effort and attitude--to do the hard jobs well gives you great strength in life.

Just do it

Don't think too much--just do it simply because you know it is the right thing to do.

Onward.
