For years now I've been in the pursuit for greater simiplification of my home with the mantra, less things, more time. I've made some good progress in this endeavor thanks to time and a less busy and populated home. With the holidays around the corner, I'm about to make another cut in this regard.
The first step is to identify the elements of life that you are invested in--elements that require collections of worthy objects. For me those collections include articles for clothing, cooking, gardening, art/creativity, gaming, decorating, reading/research/tech, some needed paperwork, geneaology/family history, health care, travel and comfort/warmth. Objects that don't feed those categories probably don't belong in this home.
When your home is simpler, easier to clean and organized, it is easier to entertain guests, welcome home family members and get up and go on an adventure of any kind.
Some collections that still need culling include tools and related fix-it materials, paperwork (fortunately most of that is on the computer today) and the art/creative supplies.
We hope to welcome many friends and family members in the week and months ahead so today on this sunny morning, I'll take another crack at organizing and simplifying our comfortable home. Onward.
