My blog has been ridiculed in many ways--I've been called pollyana, trite, cute, simple and more. Some jeer at my words. This response has given me pause to think about why I write and what I write, however as a respected colleague encouraged me to do so long ago, I will continue to share my truth because I am propelled to share these words.
Why the pushback?
There are probably many reasons for this pushback.
First, my words are not those of a wealthy, powerful person--I am a person of simple means and a simple lifestyle. I've never been drawn to a life of greater wealth or power--to find truth has always been a greater draw for me over time.
Next, I am a woman, and many of the negative comments I've received have come from men--they probably simply don't see life the way I do or ponder the questions that intrigue me.
And, perhaps the fact that I'm curious about life's most usual matters, not the unusual matters makes one wonder why you would think deeply about that.
I do believe that we have to think about what our detractors say to see if there is truth in their words or reactions. I am still thinking about these detractors, but in the meantime, I'll continue to write. Onward.
