This is a week of menial tasks--not my favorite agenda, but an agenda if well done will bring great satisfaction later on. There is great value and grace when it comes to menial tasks because those tasks root you in the essence of life connecting you to most of the world that spends their days focused on the somewhat menial tasks of living.
A menial task requires little skill and is not prestigious. Menial tasks include routine cooking, cleaning and related errands. When completing menial tasks, you get to know your environment well and there's a sense of satisfaction when completing these tasks. Yet, the tasks can be boring too so it's helpful to match the tasks with good music, podcasts or a mind full of thoughts to consider as you complete the tasks.
Menial tasks profit from a to-do list that outlines the task order, supplies, time and goals. Some people complete these tasks regularly and others wait until the tasks add up and have to be done. I fall somewhere in the middle of this continuum.
The menial tasks I complete are mostly related to having a warm, welcoming home, supporting a loving family and being a responsible individual. By simplifying my home and activities, I've been able to minimize the menial tasks leaving room for more enjoyable, thought provoking efforts.
At the end of this week, there will hopefully be a sense of satisfaction that most, if not all, of this menial task list is complete. Onward.
