The Christmas holiday is here. Sadly, the pandemic has raised its ugly face with greater energy in the past few days now that both the Delta and Omicron variant are raging. Fortunately our family is vaccinated and boosted so it is unlikely we'll face severe illness, but nevertheless, we want to be as safe as possible, so what will we do in the days ahead to have a safe and enjoyable holiday?
Gifts
Our simple collection of gifts is almost complete. I want to add one more item to my Yankee Swap grab and buy my mom a specific piece of clothing, but for the most part our gift list is short this year and almost complete.
Foods
Since family members will be home for a few days, we'll have a number of special home cooked meals including a chicken dinner, Mexican shrimp, fish tacos and a pot-luck Christmas dinner including ham, squash, baked potates, macaroni and cheese, chili, salad and ice cream sundaes.
Fun
We've planned a few hikes and hope to sing some songs, enjoy karaoke, watch movies and play board games. Famiy members are planning other fun activities too.
Warm welcoming home
I've been organizing and cleaning our home to make it welcoming for family members--there's a bit more work to do in that regard in the days ahead.
This year's holiday will be a mostly intimate, low key, warm and loving event. More than anything, I love being with my close family members--that's the best gift for me at the holidays. Onward.
