Like people the world over, our family is navigating COVID news daily. So far we've yet to test positive, but over the holiday we were exposed to someone who tested positive. Though we tested negative for the virus, some of us have some congestion issues that could be associated with a light case of the new Omicron variant. We don't know though since we were unable to buy anymore at-home tests or access a testing appointment. If our symptoms were greater, we would probably have looked harder, but since we don't have fevers or painful congestion, we're simply choosing to stay close to home for a while until any possible contagion has passed. That means we left a family event early and won't attend a New Year's Eve celebratory weekend event.
Looking ahead, most January events will be impacted by COVID. My son's college has already announced that school will be virtual in January though students can live on campus as long as they are vaccinated and tested. I'll continue to navigate COVID news as we make decisions about other upcoming events.
Like weather reports, I suspect virus/disease-reports will now become a mainstay in our culture, and we'll all navigate those reports as we make decisions about where we gatehr and who we gather with.
And, with this new chapter of life, a chapter of daily virus reports, we can't forget to look for the silver linings as we revise the way we live.
Like so many, we'll use this continuing pandemic to focus on healthy lifeways. In addition to staying attuned to virus/disease reports and advice, we'll also find ways to live as healthy as possible lives.
Connect with healthy people
We'll likely spend more time with people who heed the virus/disease reports and make healthy choices than those bamboozled my misinformation. Those who negate the science and work against collective health will be low on our social lists. We simply can't afford to risk our lives because of their lack of respect and attention to the good science out there.
Healthy routines
We'll adopt healthy routines--the kinds of routines that set us up for healthy living.
Good times
We'll continue to be creative when it comes to planning good times. We'll likely include lots of beautiful, natural outdoor locations and events.
Onward.
