I've watched so many the world over try to figure out the best way to deal with the conscience-less, self-serving, bigoted, violence-inciting, hateful, corrupt words and actions of trumpism. Trumpism is alarming because those that follow Donald Trump's ways have no problem lying, cheating and inciting violence to prop up their personal power, privilege, pleasure, protection and profit--no problem at all.
I'm not exactly sure why they've been able to attract people to their terrorist organization, but I suspect people are attracted for the following reasons:
- Trump represents the "Big White Daddy" for those who are looking for a leader that resembles the daddy figure they long for--one that matches the racist, hateful, insensitive environments they come from.
- Trump makes them feel good by constantly reminding them that those who don't look like them or come from the same cultural backgrounds are the bad guys, not them. He plays to their ignorance and destitution, making them feel good about themselves.
- Trump will do anything to make sure those who are wealthy and look like him retain their wealth and power. It's a "survival of the fittest" mentality that pits people against one another rather than promote the common good.
I hate what the Trump team represents, says and does because they hurt so many with their bigoted, false, corrupt, violence-inciting claims and actions. Their words on many occassions have translated into death, harm, prejudice, obstruction of justice, lost potential and costly corruption and destruction. Rather than look ahead and work for the common good, the trumpsters do whatever they can for their survival and wealth alone. It's painful and frightening to watch.
What can we do in the face of such evil? What acts will truly make a difference?
Know and share the truth
Read and find out the truth of the matter, then share the facts. Too many are fooled by the Trump teams' lies and propaganda. Know the truth, speak the truth. Block and report lies, propanganda and harrassment online too. For example, today I read many erroneaous tweets about a recent Trump event--the numbers and facts were wrong. Many of the tweets spread hate and incited violence towards others as well. I reported and blocked tweets that spread propaganda, harrassed others and incited violence.
Choose good leaders, VOTE, and if possible, support those leaders with your time and dollars
Too many vote for leaders that appeal to them because of old time myths or mindsets. Look deeper at who people are, what they represent, the work they do, the experiences they have and the way they will lead. Don't simply choose someone to lead because you've heard their name or like their looks--look deeper, study and vote for the best possible leaders.
Advocate for good laws and litigation
Advocate for litigation to hold corrupt leaders accountable. Too many corrupt leaders get away with their lawlessness, cheating and scandal. Make sure we have good laws and hold leaders accountable for following those laws.
Do the good that you can
It's difficult to watch people like Trump lie, cheat and focus solely on his own fame and gain rather than work for the common good. Make sure that you invest in doing all the good you can is one way to combat this horrible challenge.
Every action we do matters. None of us can work against injustice alone--we all have to do our part. Never before in my life has hatred, bigotry and injustice taken root like it's happening right now in our world. The trumpism hate, bigotry, lies and disinterest in the common good are frightening and very dangerous for all of us. We have to peacefully work against that in any way that we can. Onward.
