The tasks we do great and small matter when it comes to life quality and purpose. Also, in this world that includes so many choices, we have to think deeply about what we do and why we do it. Where are you directing your time and energy these days and why does that matter?
Family
I define family as the people that we care the most about--the intimate group of people, some blood relatives and some not, who you interact with regularly and support almost always. I believe that family units are essential to good living, and it's important to nurture those units with as much good work and care possible. As I think of my family, I think of each person and what I can do with and for them.
Community
It is important that we find ways to contribute to our community in ways that matter. Community contribution can include volunteering, voting, attending community meetings, advocacy for community development and more. Making time to be active in your community is important--people's time will vary with regard to this work. Due to family concerns now, my time for community contribution is somewhat compromised, but in time, I suspect that will change.
Lifelong learning and advocacy
How you spend your time, what you learn and your advocacy are important considerations. To commit to continual learning helps us to stay relevant and positive in life. Updating and developing good skills and knowledge helps us to serve ourselves and others well. For me, I want to learn more about how to advocate and work for safe, caring communities. My next step in that direction is to read Shannon Watts book, Fight Like a Mother. I am also developing my ability to promote a healthy, happy home by learning more about cooking healthy foods and hosting healthy family events.
Health
When we're young, we may take good health for granted, but as we age, we see how important good health is, and knowing the ways to promote that good health makes a big difference when it comes to the quality of your life.
Time
How we spend our time matters. It's important not to sign on to endeavors that are the kind of time-sucks that take away from your good health, happiness and ability to love and care for your family.
Finances
A good budget helps you to live a good life. Thinking carefully about how you make and spend your money can help you to live a good life. There's lots of simple, affordable ways to live a good life.
Making time to focus on what's important and then choosing lifeways that contribute to a good life is a positive direction to travel. It won't be perfect, but it can be very good. Onward.
