We all belong to multiple teams and each of those teams has a somewhat different focus. It's good to think about whose on the team, what the team focus is and how you can best support the team. As I watch my son's swim team compete I've been thinking about the roles of every member of that team including the individual swimmers, relay teams, coaches, support staff and families.
My first reaction is that there is so much good teamwork and support. There are swimmers encouraging one another, coaches directing and supporting all the competitors and the entire event, support staff selling tickets/food/t-shirts, those fixing broken equipment, others timing/announcing/cleaning up and more. Also there are so many family members contributing to the team's success in countless ways. There's so much to be grateful for when it comes to this team and all who contribute to it.
Next, as with any team, there's always the self reflection about your role on the team and what you can do to contribute. For each team member that contribution will be somewhat different. Yet everyone can contribute a sense of gratitude and help as needed.
And, there's the great lessons, sense of camaraderie and the positive challenges that come with teaming too. Teams take on lives of their own, but what we experience with teams of any kind can be layered onto other teams too. There's a lot to learn and enjoy from teamwork and that's one reason why it's important to be a contributing part of a variety of teams in life. Onward.
