I talk a lot about balance as I'm always trying to achieve the balance with all the pulls and tugs of life. Sometimes life does feel like a giant game of tug-a-war when needs are pulling you in multiple directions and you worry the rope is going to wrap around you and suffocate you instead. Sailors must feel a bit like this as they balance their sails for a smooth ocean ride.
This balancing act made me think more about what a smooth sail in life is like these days--what's definitely needed, and what can give a bit to make more space and time for the priorities. While there are limitless areas of need, there's not limitless energy and capacity so you have to draw some limits in order to keep the energy strong, bright and well directed.
As is often the conclusion, a good schedule with regular reflection and revision is the best course of action. When the schedule stops working effectively, it's time to take notice and make needed updates. And, it's likely that those updates will include some research and study in order to make the right changes.
It is likely that you can't fulfill all needs all the time, so setting up a good schedule where you are often meeting the needs of those you care for and care about is a positive goal. Onward.
