With so much bad news on television these days, one has to purposely look out for the good. The good is found in so many places. For example I found good yesterday at the doctor's office, grocery store, neighborhood, a relative's home, and via the Internet. There's a lot of good people out there doing lots of good. Sadly, however, we have some evil leaders in the world whose greedy, self-serving, hateful, dangerous, destruction, dishonest, murderous actions end and harm the lives of too many. How do we stop such hate and hurt--what can we do?
Don't accept acts or words of hate and evil no matter how small
Hate and destruction starts with small acts and words. We have to confront that kind of hate and evil with words and efforts to turn it around, make positive change, and end the hate and harm. We can do that with our words and actions. Throughout my life I've seen the positive effects of tremendous, intelligent advocacy to lift the lives of women and other marginalized populations time and again. This has to continue until we ensure that all people have the chance to live good lives.
Do good every day
Every day, great and small, find ways to promote the good via your own words and actions. Nothing makes you feel better than doing the good that you can do. Doing good no matter how small makes better.
Vote for public leaders that promote the good
Too many public leaders today spend their days spreading dangerous and destructive propaganda, lies, and misinformation. These leaders waste our time, corrupt the good work possible, and waste the hard earned tax dollars that pay their salaries too. To rid our government of these lazy, dangerous, destructive self-servers, we can find out who is doing the hard work of good leadership and who is not. Research political candidates. Find out if they are working for betterment for all of us or if they are accepting government dollars for no good work in return. Vote for leaders that lift lives and make better, not for those who are in office to pad their own pocketbooks and those of their wealthy benefactors alone. We can all do better when it comes to knowing and electing the best possible public servants.
Live lean
Happiness doesn't rely on rich living. On the other hand, if you live in more generous ways that benefit others as well as yourself, you'll find that you end up with a rich life for yourself and others. I have no problem with people using their money to have some good times, but you don't needs gobs of money and useless objects to enjoy life. If you have more than you need, give it away to those that need it.
There are so many ways to promote the good and there are limitless ways to do what is right and good. That's a good direction to point your life ship. Onward.
