#spiritchat leads the week

I have long been a fan of Twitter chats because I love to exchange ideas with people known and unknown throughout the world and Twitter chats allow me to do that. I started chatting on Twitter when I was looking for support, good ideas, and solutions for issues I faced in education about twelve years ago. Since then I've moved in and out of chats. For a couple of years I co-led #edchat on Tuesday nights. I learned a lot from these chats and often employed the ideas and strategies I gained in the classroom in positive ways.

Now as a retired teacher, I don't chat as much about education though I do wade into a chat now and then. Recently, though, I began chatting on #spiritchat on Sunday mornings. It is a chat led by Kumud Ajmani, and it is a great opportunity to reflect with others about spirituality and how that affects the way we live on our own and with others. I always gain insight from that chat though sometimes it is a bit daunting to share such an intimate side of yourself on a public forum.

This week's chat was about spiritual identity. I enjoyed reading about the ways people identify themselves in that way as well as their journeys past and present related to the topic. The chat definitely broadened my viewpoint and perspective which in many ways makes my life more humane and richer--I like that.

I remain a fan of social media thanks to chats like this that connect me to people I might not otherwise meet in life--people who have a lot to teach me and inspire me with. This is good. Onward.
