The weight of the world

Honestly, I have the weight of the world on my shoulders as I watch the senseless displacement, violence, harm and death occur in Ukraine. It simply doesn't make sense to me that the world can let one old, balding bully use violence to get his way rather than work with world leaders in diplomatic ways for a humane compromise--why?

I have felt this way every time we hear the reports of self-serving, angry, hateful, hurtful leaders cause great harm, destruction and death to people and places--we've seen in this in our own country as Trump's hate speech, passivity and criminal behavior translated to the deaths of innocents. We've seen this in Syria as children were poisoned and killed. There's been senseless carnage the world over always carried out by brutal, me-first, leaders who for the most part were men.

These world leaders choose violence before diplomacy--they don't work for compromise, but instead work for their personal pride, wealth, power, protection and pleasure. How can we change this? What can we do?

First, we must be aware and stay active as we can in government beginning with the local level. I have to find ways to become more involved myself. This oppressive, hateful, self-serving carnage begins with small time injustice, greed, hate and harm, and when people are involved in government, it's less likely that evil people will gain power.

Next, we have to be humane in all we do--we have to challenge ourselves to work for humanity as much and as well as we can. When I look around at the people I know, I see countless acts of humanity daily--good people doing what they can to empower and uplift lives.

After that, we have to stay informed. We have to find the truthful, honest information and stay abreast about what is happening. We then have to speak up with truth against harmful events and people in the world.

We have to be generous too, looking for ways to share the wealth of funds, skill, knowledge and more to make lives better.

I ache to see the death and destruction that's happening right now. I hope that we can end this soon--what a waste to destroy, displace, harm, and kill people--what a waste!
