It is disheartening to hear stories of use, abuse, corruption, and crime. This news is most disturbing to me because each time someone abuses, uses, commits a crime or engages in corruption, energy that could be used for good is used for bad instead. Use, abuse, corruption, and crime obstruct the limitless good that's possible. Essentially this corruption, crime, use, and abuse is a big waste of time and energy that takes us back rather than forward as individuals and together.
Why does this happen? What can we do?
Right now, it does appear that some of our greatest corruption is allowed to occur without consequence. Sadly, some people with incredible power and wealth, are fully engaged in corrupt work that robs the rest of us of the money that can be used to uplift society in multiple ways. The Trump Team's persistent propaganda, misinformation, cheating, and corruption is an oppressive weight and drain on American society. Rather than use their money and time to uplift society, they burden society with countless lawsuits, crimes to examine, vandalism, robbing, and more. We have to find ways to hold wealthy, powerful white collar criminals like these accountable. I ache when I think of the poor women who went to jail because she broke a voting law while Trump's right hand man, Mark Meadows and his wife, also broke voting rules, but are free to enjoy their corrupt wealth and privilege. Similarly we see Trump's children enjoy substantial wealth, some of which occurred because of what they did while supposedly working in the White House for the American people. It seems that his children were mostly working for themselves and their bottom line.
We have to hold people, particularly these white collar criminals, to the letter of the law. We cannot let their mafia-like criminal behavior infiltrate all aspects of our government.
We also have to rule out corruption, crime, use, and abuse in our communities, places of work, and local government. When we let the little wrongs go, greater wrongs happen.
I'm discouraged that the Trump team has so far escaped accountability and consequences for their deadly, harmful behavior most represented by the January 6th domestic terror assault at the United States Capitol. I understand that the situation has to be handled with as much specificity as possible, and Trump is a master of skirting the law or letting others do his dirty business. He is about as slimy as a human being can get. We've seen this played out on the national stage day after day. Many, like me, look forward to the day when we won't have to worry about the Trump Team's slime and corruption, but that day won't come easy as it will require many good lawmakers and citizens to do the hard work of knowing the truth and acting lawfully to hold those dishonest, corrupt leaders accountable.
We have to find ways to support and build honest, positive leadership and efforts everywhere in our lives, country, and world--this is what builds a strong society. Some will say that's pie-in-the-sky thinking, but I believe it's possible. Research shows that the world is getting better with regard to human rights. That's hard to believe right now since we've taken a giant back step thanks to evil leadership of people like Trump and Putin, but I believe we can do better and continue to move ahead where human rights and good living is involved.
