Wasted tax dollars

All my life, I've lived on a relatively tight budget. Thanks to good fortune, I have been able to afford a happy life with the basics and a bit more. For this I am grateful. Yet to afford special events and objects, like most people, I've had to save up over time. That fact has made me a good budgeter. That's one reason why I hate to see good money wasted. I know how hard most people work for every dollar they make, and I know how careful people are with that money when it comes to caring for their home and family. So when I see our hard earned tax dollars wasted on political leaders who don't take their jobs seriously and use their jobs to kowtow to wealthy, narrow-minded benefactors as well as to spread deadly, dangerous propaganda while propping up their personal profit, pleasure, power, privilege, and protection, I become very upset.

I know what good leadership can do. Throughout my life I've profited from the wonderful work and decisions of political leaders and others who supported quality public education, women's rights, conservation lands, libraries, fair taxation and more. Good leadership over time has created many societal structures that have bettered life. I honor that work and continue to find ways to support these kinds of leaders because they make a valuable difference in society. Fortunately I live in a state with hard working, people-centered leadership focused on making life better for so many. Time and again, I've watched multiple leaders in Massachusetts do the hard work necessary to improve lives. This is good.

On the national scene, however, we notice many corrupt leaders focused on deadly, dangerous propaganda rather than doing the hard work of honest, people-centered public leadership. These disastrous, dangerous, and often terrorizing leaders are bringing us down as a people--their laziness and will to increase their own gain over doing what is right and good has hurt our country greatly. Yesterday, disgusting, self-centered, ignorant politicos were on view during Judge Jackson's Confirmation Hearing. These crude, rude, ignorant, harmful politicos like Cruz, Hawley, Braun, Graham, and Blackburn were simply reading their racist scripts and performing their hateful, propaganda theater for the world to view. Their focus on spreading dehumanizing propaganda has obstructed the good questioning and process possible. I was sick to my stomach listening to them. In fact, I think I had a bit of PTSD related to the times in my life that people with too much power and too little intelligence, humanity, and/or respect had struck out at me. Tell me, why do we elect people like this--people who do no good for anyone but themselves and their narrow minded benefactors? Why?

We have to elect good leaders--the kind of leaders that Massachusetts mostly has, leaders who work tirelessly for the common good rather than their own fame and gain. We need bright, accomplished, experienced, intelligent, dedicated leaders in every corner of society. We cannot let people be fooled by the backwards, dead-end, hurtful, hateful, deadly propaganda and actions that dilute the good living possible.

So in the days ahead, please research those who desire leadership in our midst. When you vote, choose carefully. Find out what candidates have truly done to uplift the common good. Figure out how much time they spend on the job researching, meeting with others, crafting new policies, making promising change, and serving the people. Also, please vote. One reason these lazy, self-servers have found their way into office is because too many everyday people don't vote. For most people, voting takes some real planning and organization. It's difficult to get to the polls, and many of these self-serving Trumpian Republicans have used the law to make it more difficult for everyday people to get to the polls. Make some time to figure out how to get there, who is running, and who will do the work of making our country strong and positive for all. I believe it is possible to build a country that provides opportunity for good living for all--we can do that, but it won't happen if we let dangerous, terrorizing individuals like Cruz, Hawley, Trump, Graham, Blackburn, and Braun continue to collect a salary made up from our hard earned tax dollars only to serve themselves and their wealthy benefactors alone. Time for change.
