As I pondered the challenge of limitless propositions today, I realized that one way to create good parameters in relation to this is to try out those parameters for a specific amount of time. For example, in the next two weeks, I'm going to try out a selection of new parameters for one limitless task I'm involved in. At the end of the two weeks, I'll assess how those parameters work. Essentially, I want the parameters to do the following:
- keep me on track with personal health goals, optimal energy
- ensure that I meet the main goals of the limitless task at hand
- help me not to get distracted by less essential, off-topic events that impact this limitless task
Personal health
Limitless tasks can challenge our personal health. If we don't carve out time to stay healthy, we won't be able to do the most essential tasks related to any effort.
Main goals
With limitless tasks, we have to identify the main goals. We need to know what's essential and what's not essential. For example, with the task at hand, what I believe is essential relates to happiness, good as possible health, and safety. Other matters are less important.
Distractions
Distractions can take you off your game. For example, if someone tries to layer tasks unrelated to the main goals onto your effort, you need to be able to politely refuse or perhaps minimize those tasks due to lack of time, energy or investment. You can't let the distractions get in the way of the main effort.
Limitless tasks such as teaching, parenting, care taking, household management and more are tough, endless tasks that can take you down if you don't create good parameters and identify the main goals. Onward.
