Let it go

I admit, I've been stuck in the weeds of life now and then. I sometimes let the little things obstruct my forward movement, best work, and priorities. Fortunately I had the chance to work closely with a few people who didn't let that happen--I learned a lot from those individuals. Rather than getting stuck in the details of life, these individuals were good at prioritizing what was most important in any situation.

I thought of this today as some frustrating details got in the way of a wonderful event and project I'm involved in. Rather than let those gnawing details upset the event or project, I'm letting go of that. I know that a year from now, the details will be long lost, and the joy of the wonderful event and a successful project will be a great source of strength and camaraderie.

As much as possible, if we pay attention to the details of life and do our best with those details, what we do will be enhanced, but if we obsess about the details, we may lose sight of the important priorities related to details. There's a balance here, a balance I'm getting better at finding as I move ahead in life. Onward.
