How can you live your best life? What will it take? Where are you hitting the mark and what work is left to do?
This morning I thought about what it takes to live your best life. I thought about this as I reflected on many life changes and recent events. To decide how to live your best life is a good way to transition when life events create change.
When you play the compare game, no one wins
Living your best life means that you don't compare your life with others--it's your life, not their's. It's okay to think about others' lives to get some ideas about direction, but it's not okay to let others' life paths make you feel inadequate or frustrated. Everyone's life is different, and we all have a mix of strengths and challenges in those lives. Don't compare. Live your own life.
Dream
Take time to dream about what you want in life. Prioritize your desires and work for what you want. Be proud of who you are and what you dream of, that is what makes you uniquely you and that will likely bring you happiness. For example, for me, family is a top priority--I love nurturing a happy family life as much as possible and I love doing what I can for family members. That's a top priority.
Positive routine
Establish and follow a positive routine that promotes good health, happy relationships, and positive living.
Expert help and supportive resources
When you hit the rough spots, reach out to helpful people and resources to get the help you need.
Beware of perfection
The old adage, "Don't let perfection get in the way of good," is very important--it will never be perfect, but it can be good.
Have some fun
Make sure to include some fun in your life routine--joy powers up our good energy which helps us to live the good lives we reach for.
We can all strive to live our best lives. Sometimes that won' be easy, but it's always a positive direction.
